The National Council for Sustainable Development held its first meeting

The National Council for Sustainable Development held its first meeting in 2017 on 6 April in the Parliament’s Kálmán Tisza Room.

The meeting first discussed and adopted NCSD’s work plan and budget for 2017 and the report on NCSD’s activities in 2016. On behalf of the Presidency, the work plan and the budget was presented by dr. Gábor Bartus, secretary.

The meeting continued with a presentation on the national strategy on gene conservation and the role of gene banks in the protection of our natural assets by Zsolt V. Németh, minister of state (Ministry of Agriculture) and dr. Dávid Mezőszentgyörgyi, ministerial commissioner.

Under the next point on the agenda, the meeting discussed the sustainability aspects of the draft version of the second National Climate Change Strategy (NÉS-2). A keynote speech and informative presentation was given by dr. Martina Makai, deputy minister of state (Ministry of National Development).
