The NCSD held its last board meeting this year in the Parliament’s Gobelin Room on 30th November 2016.

The National Council for Sustainable Development (NCSD) held its last board meeting this year in the Parliament’s Gobelin Room on 30th November 2016.

The first speakers were Ádám Zoltán Kovács, deputy minister of state for international cooperation and Gábor Valkó, department head at the Central Statistical Office informing the meeting on the tasks and institution system related to the Hungarian implementation of the UN’s Agenda 2030 on Sustainable Development Goals.

The Board Meeting then discussed migration as a sustainability challenge. The presentation and the keynote speech was delivered by Balázs Orbán, director general at the Migration Research Institute and Endre Sík, senior researcher at TÁRKI Social Research Institute.

In the other business section of the meeting, dr. Gábor Bartus informed the Board about the first OpenSDGClub Conference supported by the National Council for Sustainable Development. OpenSDGClub wishes to promote implementation of the UN’s sustainable development goals by establishing an international cooperation forum and dialogue for non-governmental (scientific, business, civil) organizations.
