The annual conference of the European Environment and Sustainable Development Advisory Councils (EEAC) aimed to urge the need to transform politics, society and the economy as required by the Paris Agreement and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

The academia, civil society, the private sector and public bodies need to unite forces to push towards a sustainable Europe. Unfortunately, the anticipated fundamental change remains distant facing many hindrances. The conference attended by 200 people coming from over 20 different countries was dedicated to identifying the most important blocks and to fostering a European debate on the implementation on the UN’s SDGs in Europe.

The German Council for Sustainable Development held its annual conference on June 4 2018.

The participants included Gábor Bartus, NCSD’s secretary and Zsombor Barta, his colleague.

Speakers at the 18th annual conference of the German Council for Sustainable Development (RNE) in Berlin included Angela Merkel, Germany’s chancellor who stressed the importance of the transboundary aspect of sustainability and highlighted the impacts and future ideas of European integrity on sustainability. 
The European Commission inaugurates the first European Sustainability Award to recognize the efforts and creativity of European businesses, organizations and citizens who work to achieve the United Nations' sustainable development goals. 
The fourth European Sustainability Week has been successfully completed. As previously, Hungary participated in the event this year again, which offered 36 different programmes for the attendants to choose from. Each region within Hungary organized their own programme focusing on various aspects of sustainability. Community events continue to be the most popular components but this year’s programme included several exhibitions, sports events and eco-art workshops as well.
At its meeting on April 24 2018, the Fiscal Council discussed the issue of sustainability. The speakers at the meeting included the representatives of the Hungarian Audit Office and the Hungarian Central Bank in addition to Csaba Kőrösi, the director of environmental sustainability at the President’s Office and Gábor Bartus, NCSD’s secretary as guest presenters.
